Foundation Layer or Leveling Layer: What Is the Difference?

A foundation layer and a leveling layer may come from the same bottle, but they do different jobs. The foundation is the thin first layer within the chosen adhesion protocol. The leveling layer builds the surface and support required for the service.

Start with connection

The foundation follows the specified preparation steps and creates the first cured coating on the nail. In LiNTO systems, BASE FRAME is primarily positioned as a flexible foundation, including under gel.

A thin foundation is not an instruction to remove almost all product with the brush. Apply it as directed, with controlled coverage and no skin contact.

Then consider shape and support

Leveling is not just another identical coat. You are choosing a material and application that suit the nail’s length and the planned service. BASE LEGEND is primarily used for leveling and strengthening; BASE FRAME retains more flexibility and is recommended for leveling short nails.

That difference explains why adding a larger amount of any available base is not a reliable way to strengthen every nail.

Keep the stages separate

  • Choose the foundation required by the system.
  • Apply and cure it according to the instructions.
  • Select the leveling material for the intended length and structure.
  • Cure that layer separately as specified.

Where a LiNTO base is used for both roles, the product guidance calls for a thin first layer, curing, then the leveling layer. The same bottle can perform two jobs, but the two application stages still need a clear purpose.
