Base or Gel: What Should You Use to Strengthen Natural Nails?
Both a suitable base and a hard gel can be used in natural-nail strengthening services. The choice depends on the nail, its length, the intended structure, and the material’s application protocol—not simply the word “strengthening” on the appointment list.
When a base may fit the service
A base overlay can suit a service that does not require a sculpted extension. Within LiNTO, material behavior still varies: BASE FRAME is primarily a flexible foundation and a short-nail leveling option, while BASE LEGEND becomes firmer in a leveling layer and can strengthen longer natural nails.
Do not assume that every base offers the same support just because it can be applied from a bottle.
When to consider hard gel
REPAIR GEL CLEAR and REPAIR GEL COLOR are intended for strengthening and modeling. They offer a different route when the service calls for hard-gel structure, repair, or extension work.
That choice also brings a gel-specific protocol. Depending on the service, the foundation and treatment of the natural free edge require particular attention. Switching materials without changing technique is not a complete plan.
Ask before choosing
- How long are the nails now, and what length is requested?
- What support and shape does the service require?
- What coating was used previously?
- Can the client maintain the result with appropriate follow-up?
If a flexible material is not meeting the service needs, simply adding more of it is not always the answer. Choose the material and structure together, and follow the corresponding LiNTO preparation, application, curing, and maintenance guidance.
