One Coat or Two? Applying Highly Pigmented Gel Polish

A highly pigmented gel polish may give the coverage you want in one coat, but that is not an instruction to make every application a one-coat service. LiNTO gel polish can be applied in one coat or two thin coats, depending on the shade and technique.

Decide what the finish needs

Opaque color, a translucent effect, and an even-looking nude are different goals. Judge the intended finish rather than comparing every shade with a dense cream color.

If one controlled layer delivers the desired result within the product directions, a second is not automatically necessary. If more coverage is needed, use the approved thin-layer approach instead of overloading the first coat.

Do not trade control for coverage

A heavy application may look opaque before curing but is not a reliable shortcut. Follow the product’s layer and curing instructions, especially with darker or denser colors.

Keep the brush controlled around the margins and remove any accidental skin contact before curing. A clean outline is easier to maintain when the layer is placed deliberately rather than pushed into position.

Check before reaching for the top

  • Does the finish match the shade’s intended opacity?
  • Is the layer even, without gathered product at the sides?
  • Has each required coat received the full specified cure?

If a shade repeatedly behaves unexpectedly, record the exact product, layer sequence, and lamp details for technical support. The right number of coats is the number allowed by the system that achieves the intended finish—not a rule that every shade must cover in one pass.
