BASE FRAME vs BASE LEGEND: How to Choose | LiNTO

Choosing between BASE FRAME and BASE LEGEND is less about finding the “better” base and more about deciding what the coating needs to do. The simplest distinction? BASE FRAME is primarily a flexible foundation; BASE LEGEND is primarily a leveling and strengthening base.

BASE FRAME: start with the foundation

BASE FRAME is soft and flexible in a thin layer, making it a practical foundation under gel. Although it becomes firmer in a leveling layer, it retains flexibility. For that reason, leveling with BASE FRAME is recommended for short nails.

It can also serve as the foundation when transitioning from acidic bases to LiNTO’s neutral base system. If a client is changing products, consider their previous coating as well as the condition of the natural nail—not just the length.

BASE LEGEND: focus on leveling and strength

BASE LEGEND is also flexible when applied thinly, but becomes more rigid, with gel-like properties, in a leveling layer. This makes it suitable for leveling and strengthening, including on longer natural nails.

It can work as both the foundation and leveling layer within the appropriate protocol. However, it is not the recommended foundation immediately after acidic materials; a transition protocol is needed.

Which one fits your service?

  • For a flexible foundation under gel: choose BASE FRAME.
  • For leveling short nails where flexibility is appropriate: consider BASE FRAME.
  • For a firmer leveling layer or strengthening longer natural nails: choose BASE LEGEND.
  • For a transition protocol that combines both: BASE FRAME forms the thin foundation, followed by BASE LEGEND for leveling, with each layer cured separately.

Can either base be used on its own?

Yes, where the nail condition and product history allow. When using either base as both foundation and leveling material, apply a thin first layer, cure it, then apply and cure the leveling layer. Remember that BASE FRAME leveling is intended for short nails.

Follow the product instructions for preparation, compatible lamp, and curing time. These are professional-use materials; the right choice depends on the nail, its length, and the service you are performing.
