TOP VELOURS: A Velvet Finish and Simple Aftercare
TOP VELOURS creates a matte, soft-touch finish rather than the sharp reflection of a glossy top. Its appeal is as much about feel as appearance, so introduce it to clients as a different surface—not a matte version of every glossy-top routine.
Keep application thin
LiNTO describes TOP VELOURS as a medium-thick top with a residual sticky layer. Apply it thinly and cure according to the product instructions. A thicker layer is not a shortcut to a more velvety result.
Allow the top to cool as directed before removing the residual layer with the recommended product. LiNTO’s guidance advises against acetone-containing liquids for this step.
Explain everyday surface marks
The matte surface can show contamination, particularly over light colors. Let the client know that a surface mark does not automatically mean the finish has failed.
LiNTO’s care guidance allows appropriate alcohol wipes or the recommended acetone-free cleansing product for surface cleaning. Keep the advice specific: the client does not need to scrub the nails with an abrasive or experiment with household solvents.
Set expectations before the service
- Show the matte effect on a swatch.
- Discuss how the chosen color looks without gloss.
- Explain the approved cleaning method.
- Ask the client to report persistent changes rather than picking or buffing.
A matte manicure is a deliberate finish, not an unfinished glossy one. Thoughtful application and a short aftercare explanation help the client understand how to keep that soft-touch appearance looking its best.
