How to Read a Professional Nail Product Label
A professional nail product label is more than a shade name and a marketing claim. Before adding a material to your service, read the packaging and current instructions together. They help you identify the formula and use it within its intended conditions.
Start with identity and intended use
Check the exact product name and function. A base, primer, gel, and top are not interchangeable, even if their packaging is similar. Note the batch identifier so you can trace the product if technical support is needed.
Also check the responsible person’s details and any professional-use or allergy warnings. If required information is missing or unclear, contact the supplier before use.
Read durability correctly
The EU Cosmetics Regulation distinguishes minimum durability from the period after opening. The information required depends on the product and whether the concept of durability after opening is relevant.
Follow the actual packaging and storage instructions. An unchanged smell or texture is not permission to ignore a stated expiry or recommended use period.
Use the ingredient list carefully
- Read the complete list rather than relying on “free-from” claims.
- Do not infer ingredient percentages from the front label.
- Ask about formula changes when replacing familiar stock.
- Keep current application and curing instructions accessible.
Make label checking part of receiving stock, not something you do only after a problem. A clear product record helps you choose appropriate materials, answer client questions accurately, and give a technologist useful information when you need support.
